A Devastating EF4 in Alabama in 2019!

March 3, 2019 - Alabama: A long-track, killer tornado moved 68.04 miles through portions of Alabama and Georgia on this day in 2019. 23 were killed in Lee County, AL. A total of 40 tornadoes were confirmed and the Beauregard/Smiths Station/Talbotton tornado was the strongest with a rating of EF4. This was the first violent tornado to hit Lee County, AL since March 20, 1875.

March 4, 1842 - Alabama: Thomas Grazulis documents a tornado in Tuscaloosa, AL on this day. It moved through the western part of town leveling one home and damaging several others. One person was killed and ten were injured.
March 5, 1943 - Texas: An F2 tornado moved three miles near San Augustine, TX. Grazulis said there was tornado and downburst damage observed. 50 homes and four churches were heavily damaged. A boy was killed on a bicycle but Thomas Grazulis denotes that may not have been due to the tornado. There were eight injuries.
March 6, 1956 - Indiana: A strong tornado hit Marion, IN, on this day. It moved through the western and northern parts of Marion and then out into the open country. 45 homes were destroyed. 40 others had major damage, and 350 had minor damage. There was one fatality and 31 injuries.

March 7, 1830 - Virginia: Thomas Grazulis documents a tornado that moved through portions of Halifax County, VA. Cabins and barns were demolished south of Meadesville. “Three people were killed by a falling chimney after they had survived the destruction of a home.”
March 8, 1909 - Arkansas: A devastating tornado moved from five miles WSW of Brinkley, AR to 10 miles NE of that city. “Along the entire path, homes were blown down or swept away.” In Brinkly, “several entire families were killed as over 800 buildings including 260 homes were destroyed.” 42 deaths occurred in Brinkley and seven more were in rural areas.
March 9, 2017 - Kentucky: An EF2 tornado tracked about 10 miles from near Hickman, KY to near Woodland Mills, TN. 45 buildings were damaged or destroyed.
