🌪️ This Week In Tornado History
February 12, 1945 - Montgomery, AL: An F3 tornado moved 13 miles through Montgomery County, AL. It brushed the west side of Montgomery and then demolished 30 homes in the cotton mill community of Chisolm. "Deaths occurred in 15 different homes in a 20-block area, and losses totaled about $1,700,000." A total of 26 people were killed and over 290 injured.
February 13-14, 2000 - Southwest Georgia: Late February 13 into early February 14, 2000, 3 devastating tornadoes struck portions of Southwest Georgia. Two were rated F3 and one was rated F2. There was a total of 19 fatalities, many in mobile homes. Approximately 200 injuries were reported.

February 15, 2016 - Century, FL: A strong EF3 tornado tears through Escambia County, Florida, near the town of Century, on February 15, 2016. Numerous homes were damaged or destroyed, including one that was completely leveled. Extensive tree and power pole damage occurred along the path, and 3 people were injured. This was the first EF3 in Florida since 2007.
February 16, 1903 - Honea Path, SC: An F2 moved 15 miles from Honea Path, SC to south of Owings. Three were killed. A woman was killed in a small home. Per Thomas Grazulis in Significant Tornadoes, “School had just let out, and three boys ran to a store for shelter as the tornado approached. Two were crushed by a two-story brick wall.”
February 17, 2008 - Prattville, AL: An EF3 tornado tracked through Prattville and Millbrook, AL, on this day. 50 people were injured, as 200 homes and 40 businesses were damaged or destroyed.
February 18, 1992 - Van Wert, OH: Developed 1/2 mile north of the Van Wert/Mercer County line. 2.8 mile path. A house, mobile home, and two cars were destroyed. Nine other homes were severely damaged. The tornado drove several pieces of debris into trees. There were six injuries and no fatalities.
