January of 1999 was historic!
After weeks of research, organizing, writing, and website work…..we have published an 11 chapter premium series and free overview on our first April 3, 1974 event! Details below!

🌪️ This Week In Tornado History
January 15, 1947 - Pinson, TN: An F2 tornado demolished a tenant house three miles NE of Pinson, TN. Four members of one family were killed. Another tenant home and barns were destroyed. Livestock were killed.
January 16, 2017 - Mexia, TX: Several buildings were damaged at the Mexia State Supported Living Center. This is listed as an EF0 in the SPC and NCDC databases, however the Damage Assessment Toolkit (DAT) and the NWS Summary list the tornado as an EF1.
January 17, 2016 - Duette, FL: An EF2 tornado tracked for 9 miles near Duette, FL. Two people were killed in the destruction of a trailer; four others were injured.

January 18, 1973 - Corey, LA: This tornado developed in open country near the Jackson-Caldwell parish line. It moved to the northeast near Corey. A tenant farm was destroyed. 16-year-old Julia Bass was killed. Her infant daughter was carried with the debris for about 300-400 yards. The infant and Julia’s Mom, Josephine, were taken to the hospital due to injuries sustained when the tornado hit.

January 19, 1928 - Cincinnati, OH: A possible F3 tornado with a path of less than 1 mile moved north through the “Cumminsville” area of NW Cincinnati, OH. Twenty homes were unroofed along Spring Grove Avenue. 18 people were injured.
January 20, 1854 - Knox County, OH: Thomas Grazulis documents a tornado that moved 10 miles through parts of Knox County, OH. Log cabins, barns and other buildings were hit and “several churches were blown down.” He denotes that there were a clean swath cut through a wood area. “It seems newsto have worn the appearance of mighty black pillar, reaching from earth to heaven, irritated by blinding flashes of lightning, and accompanied, in its devastating march, by the music of a hundred cannon.” Three people were killed and 25 injured.
January 21, 1999 - Beebe-McRae, AR: An outbreak of 86 tornadoes occurred on January 21, 1999. There were nine tornadoes rated F3 (all but one in Arkansas) and one F4 in Arkansas. This summary looks at one of the F3s. The new Beebe Junior High School on Center Street had significant damage. Damage occurred to the Beebe Fire Department and a church. In McRae, the old fire station lost a wall, and the new fire station was destroyed.
