A new summary from the April 3, 1974 Super Outbreak! It was a twister given a rating of F3 in Cherokee County, AL near Centre!

🌪️ This Week In Tornado History
July 29, 1896 - Glouster, OH: An F2 crossed through Athens County, OH and the town of Glouster. Homes and a store were demolished and the owner of the store died as he became buried under the debris. Newspapers reported that a woman was “so badly frightened” that she died as well.
July 30, 1977 - Bloomer, WI: The tornado clipped the NW part of the town. Approximately 50 homes were demolished. 100-150 other homes and businesses sustained damage. 20 people were injured.

July 31, 1987 - Edmonton, Alberta: It was a day that came to be known as “Black Friday”. On July 31, 1987, one of the most powerful tornadoes in Canadian history struck Edmonton, Alberta and parts of Strathcona County. It is the deadliest known tornado for Alberta and the second-deadliest for the country. This significant tornado was given a rating of F4 with maximum winds estimated at 260 mph. This tragic event led to the development of Alberta’s Emergency Public Warning System (EPWS), which would be implemented in 1992.

August 1, 1936 - Havana, KS: An F2 tornado pushed through parts of Montgomery County, KS. It demolished the Grange Hall and several homes at Havana.
August 2, 1896 - Grafton, ND: An F3 tornado moved through portions of Walsh County, ND. Homes and barns were leveled near Grafton. Debris was carried about 2 miles. Thomas Grazulis denotes 3 injuries and states a “child probably died from injuries.”
August 3, 2020 - North Carolina: Hurricane Isaias spawned an EF2 tornado at Bald Island and Southport, NC. Several homes had extensive damage.
August 4, 1923 - Leoti, KS: An estimated F2 tornado moved across Leoti, KS. Several homes were heavily damaged and eight people were injured.
